Iberchem’s team of perfumers has created four fragrances, each of them representing one of these outstanding nature trails in Spain: Camino Natural de la Cordillera Cantábrica (the Cantabrian Mountain Range Nature Trail), Camino Natural de la Palma (La Palma Nature Trail), Camí de Cavalls and Vía Verde del Aceite (the Olive Oil Greenway).

María Ángeles López, Iberchem’s Global Project Director, was involved in the campaign launch and delivered an inspiring and emotive speech on the power fragrances have to shape a territory’s identity. The four fragrances were unveiled and presented to Minister Luis Planas and other senior officials.

To mark the occasion, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food created a promotional campaign jointly with the Siberia team entitled “Todos los caminos llevan aroma” (“Every trail has its aroma”). This campaign highlights how the trails offer us the opportunity to enjoy the delightful aromas typical of the individual regions of Spain.

“In this project, we wanted to convey just how effective aromas can be in creating an identity and an emotional connection with a territory or an experience, enabling us to revisit them through our sense of smell,” explains María Ángeles López, Iberchem’s global project manager.

As one of the key players in this transmedia initiative, Iberchem has supplied the campaign’s olfactory elements, creating four tailor-made fragrances for the trails mentioned above.

The first fragrance, inspired by the Camino Natural de la Cordillera Cantabrica, evokes a walk through the Asturian meadows and rivers, with fresh green notes such as eucalyptus and mint.

The second fragrance was inspired by the Camino Natural de la Palma, and draws on the rich botanical diversity of the Canary Islands, with fruity and citrus notes such as banana, Canarian lemon, and sugar.

The third fragrance is inspired by the Camino Natural Vía Verde del Aceite, and conjures up the idea of a pleasant springtime walk in the warming Andalusian sun. It is predominantly made up of floral notes such as orange blossom, as well as mandarin citrus notes, and sweet notes such as figs and aniseed.

The fourth fragrance is inspired by the Camí de Cavalls trail, and evokes the deepest essence of the Mediterranean: woody notes to symbolise its lush interior, and notes such as sea salt and Posidonia to remind us of its fresh sea breeze and the luminosity and warmth of its coast.

The event

The campaign’s launch event was held on Wednesday 19th June. It took place in the skylit area of the Palacio de Fomento in Madrid, which was the perfect setting for this special occasion. The event was hosted by the Spanish Television journalist Olivia Freijo and was honoured by the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, Luis Planes, who officially presented the campaign and emphasised the importance of the Spanish Network of Nature Trails in our society.
